The Ronald McDonald House Charities Bulgaria (RMHC Bulgaria) is a legal entity and a non-profit organization aiming to improve the health and living conditions of children in Bulgaria.
The founding of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Bulgaria coincides with the celebration of the first McHappy Day™ at McDonald's on November 20th, 2002. The Foundation supports programs aimed at improving the health condition and life quality of disadvantaged children and other children's causes.
During McDonald's McHappy Day™ campaigns in Bulgaria since 2002, significant funds have been raised and donated from donations and HappyMeal™ sales, which have been spent on medical equipment and supplies, the construction of a children's center, renovations and the improvement of specialized department for children with oncohematological diseases in Bulgaria:

In 1974, three-year-old Kim became ill with leukemia. Her parents moved to the hospital so they could be near their child. During their stay there, they met many other parents who also could not afford to rent a hotel room and support themselves away from home. The sick child's father, Fred Hill, is a player on the Philadelphia Eagles football team and with the help of his teammates, he began raising funds to help the families of the sick children. This way the football team, the children's hospital and McDonald's chain restaurants decided to join forces and create a home for the families of all the children in the hospital. Thus, the first Ronald McDonald House was created.
In the following years, more than 330 such houses were opened in different countries for parents of sick children. A special Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) foundation was set up to fund them. The funds were raised through charity initiatives at McDonald's restaurants as well as through individual donations.
Today, the Foundation supports more than 685 programs in 65 countries around the world. It has donated significant funds to support meaningful charity causes around the world.
